MESOTHELIOMA     ASBESTOSIS

VETERANS' CLAIMS:

Military Veterans with lung cancer, mesothelioma or other asbestos related diseases may file claims with the U.S. department of veterans affairs

Disability compensation, health-care benefits, and dependency indemnity compensation (DIC) benefits may be available.

Asbestos was everywhere in the US military.  It was most common on Navy ships but members of all branches of the service are at risk of having been exposed.  Floors, roofs, and walls on most military bases contained some asbestos.

Military duty alone is not enough to qualify you for compensation.  You must be able to show that the illness is as likely as not to have stemmed from your active duty.  You will need to have an opinion from a doctor that the disease is attributable to active duty exposure.

If you are suffering from an asbestos related disease and you served in the military, talk to your doctor about any possible connection.  An attorney experienced in the handling of Veteran's claims or an accredited VA claims agent can give you the best chance of getting the compensation that you are entitled to.
